Residents of Lewiston, Maine were ordered to shelter in place Wednesday night after law enforcement agencies reported two active shooter events.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office reported that police were investigating two locations, a restaurant called Schemengees and Sparetime Recreation, a bowling alley. The Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston was also on alert.
Shannon Moss of the Maine State Police said that businesses were being asked to lock down and or close while the investigation was underway.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office said that the suspect was still at large and urged people to stay inside their homes with the doors locked.
The Maine State Police are continuing to investigate the active shooter situation and are asking anyone with information to contact them. They also urged people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
