A Portland man was arrested Thursday for allegedly planning a shooting at a rock climbing festival over the weekend in Oregon, authorities said.

Garner was allegedly planning to target rock climbers at the Smith Rock Craggin’ Classic, a three-day climbing event hosted by the American Alpine Club at Smith Rock State Park.
A 27-count indictment by the Deschutes County District Attorney lists four victims targeted by Garner, according to NBC News affiliate KTVZ in Central Oregon.
Garner was arrested on charges of attempted murder, attempted assault of the first and second degree, and unlawful use of a weapon, the sheriff’s office said. He is currently being held in the Deschutes County jail.
The Smith Rock Craggin’ Classic was held from Oct. 20-22 and was attended by hundreds of climbers from across the country. The event was held without incident, and the sheriff’s office said there is no further threat to the public.
