On Sunday morning, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported that Tropical Storm Norma had made landfall near the resorts of Los Cabos at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula on Saturday afternoon. Hours later, Hurricane Tammy made landfall on the Caribbean island of Barbuda.

The NHC said that mainland Mexico faces threats of flash flooding and heavy rainfall as Tropical Storm Norma continues moving north-northeastward across the Gulf of California. The storm moved ashore with winds of 80 mph (130 kph) near el Pozo de Cota, west-northwest of Cabo San Lucas.

The center of Norma is forecast to reach the west coast of mainland Mexico on Sunday and move inland by Sunday night or Monday morning. The storm weakened to a tropical storm with 70 mph (110 kph) winds as it crossed the Baja California Peninsula and by late Saturday it was nearing the Sea of Cortez, also known as the Gulf of California.

The NHC warned that Tropical Storm Norma could bring heavy rainfall and flash flooding to mainland Mexico. The storm is expected to move inland by Sunday night or Monday morning.

The NHC is urging people in the affected areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. They are also monitoring the progress of Hurricane Tammy, which is expected to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds to Barbuda.

The NHC is continuing to monitor the progress of both storms and will provide updates as the situation develops.
