189 Decaying Bodies Discovered at Colorado Springs Funeral Home, Families Express Shock and Betrayal

Colorado Springs, Colo. (AP) – Families of those who have used the services of Return to Nature Funeral Home are expressing shock and dismay after the discovery of 189 decaying bodies at the home this month.

The Associated Press has gathered information from customers and crematories that suggests the funeral home may have fabricated cremation records and given families fake ashes. This has led to fears that their loved ones may have been among the unidentified corpses found at the home.

Tanya Wilson, who used the services of Return to Nature Funeral Home, said her mother’s last wish was for her remains to be scattered in a place she loved, not rotting away in a building. She said the discovery of the bodies has left her feeling betrayed.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident and has said that the bodies were found in various states of decomposition. The cause of death for the bodies is still unknown.

The Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies has suspended the funeral home’s license and is conducting an investigation into the incident. The agency has also urged anyone who has used the services of Return to Nature Funeral Home to contact them.
