President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden expressed shock and sorrow over the murder of a young Palestinian Muslim immigrant in Illinois. Six-year-old Wadea Al-Fayoume was stabbed 26 times in his family’s home in Plainfield, and his mother was critically wounded. Joseph Czuba, 71, the family’s landlord, has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and two counts of committing a hate crime.

In a statement, the Bidens said, “The child’s Palestinian Muslim family came to America seeking what we all seek—a refuge to live, learn, and pray in peace. This horrific act of hate has no place in America, and stands against our fundamental values.”
