Secretary of State Antony Blinken and King Abdullah II of Jordan Seek Peaceful Solution to End Devastating Israel-Hamas Conflict

Secretary of State Antony Blinken and King Abdullah II of Jordan held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the ongoing violence between Israel and Hamas. The two leaders discussed the “horrific Hamas terrorist attacks” and the “devastating impact” of the war on the region.

The violence has resulted in at least 2,700 deaths, with 1,400 in Gaza and 1,300 in Israel, and thousands of injuries. In addition, dozens of people have been taken hostage and hundreds of thousands have been displaced.

Blinken’s trip to Jordan follows his meetings with Israeli officials and people directly affected by the violence. He noted the importance of journalists on the ground to help educate the public on the situation.

Since Hamas launched a massive attack against Israel on Saturday, the Israeli government has responded with nonstop airstrikes on Gaza. The electricity in Gaza has been shut down by Israel, making it difficult for journalists to report on the situation.

The international community is calling for an immediate ceasefire to end the violence. Blinken and King Abdullah II agreed to work together to find a peaceful solution to the conflict.
