DEA Arrests Suspect in Connection with Bronx Drug Mill and Death of 1-Year-Old Boy

Federal authorities have arrested a man in connection with a drug mill in the Bronx, New York City, where 13 kilos of fentanyl were found. The suspect, Felix Herrera Garcia, is the husband of the owner of the Divino Niño day care center, where a 1-year-old boy died after being exposed to fentanyl.

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), agents seized more than 40 pounds of fentanyl from the drug mill. The DEA also said that Herrera Vargas had transported the drugs through the subway in a rolling suitcase.

In addition to Herrera Vargas, three other people have been charged in connection with the drug mill: Grei Mendez, 36, the owner of the day care center; Carlisto Acevedo Brito, 41; and Renny Antonio Parra Paredes, 38.

The DEA is continuing to investigate the drug mill and the circumstances surrounding the death of the 1-year-old boy. The agency is urging anyone with information about the case to contact them.
