Rudy Giuliani Labeled “America’s Deadbeat” After Failing to Comply with Court Order

Rudy Giuliani, former attorney to former President Donald Trump, has been labeled “America’s Deadbeat” by “Morning Joe” hosts Willie Geist and Joe Scarborough after failing to comply with a federal judge’s order to turn over evidence and pay legal fees to election workers he defamed.

In papers filed Thursday, lawyers for Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss said Giuliani “failed to take any of the actions” a federal judge ordered him to carry out by Wednesday, including paying $89,000 in attorneys’ fees for the two election workers. The order was issued last month by U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell in Washington, D.C., in response to Giuliani’s having failed to comply with earlier court orders.

Scarborough and Geist discussed the situation on their show Friday, with Scarborough saying, “It was all fun and games until the indictments started coming down. And now, like for so many of the people around Donald Trump, the bill is coming due.” Geist added, “And this is the cost, of course, when you turn your life over to Donald Trump.”

Giuliani has been ordered to turn over evidence and pay legal fees to the two election workers he defamed, but has yet to comply with the court order. It is unclear what the consequences will be for Giuliani if he continues to ignore the court order, but Scarborough speculated that he could face prison, bankruptcy, or additional charges.

The former mayor of New York City has gone from being known as “America’s Mayor” to “America’s Deadbeat” due to his failure to comply with the court order. It remains to be seen what the consequences will be for Giuliani if he continues to ignore the court order.
