Person of Interest Detained in Fatal Shooting of Los Angeles County Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has detained a person of interest in the fatal shooting of Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer on Saturday. The 30-year-old deputy was found slumped over the wheel of his patrol vehicle at the intersection of Sierra Highway and Avenue Q in Palmdale, California, after a bystander called 911.

Sheriff Robert Luna is expected to provide more details of the case at a news conference scheduled for 10:30 a.m. PDT (1:30 p.m. ET). The department confirmed the detention of the person of interest at 6:15 a.m. Monday.

Deputy Clinkunbroomer had just left the Palmdale station when he was found. He was a six-year veteran of the department and is survived by his wife and two children.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact the department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. They are offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects.
