Disney World in Florida was forced to close parts of its Magic Kingdom Park on Monday afternoon after a black bear was spotted in a tree.

The bear was seen in the tree by NBC affiliate WESH of Orlando’s helicopter, which captured aerial footage of the animal being carried away by multiple law enforcement agents.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) said it was aware of the bear and that its biologists were working with law enforcement officers to capture the animal.

Adventureland, Frontierland and Liberty Square were temporarily closed while the bear was being removed. The FWC said its biologists were working to safely capture the bear and relocate it to a more suitable habitat.

Disney World opened to guests staying at 45 hotels at 8:30 a.m. and to the general public at 9. Park officials said they were reopening the areas that had been closed while the bear was being removed.

In most cases, it is best for bears to be given space and to move along on their own. However, given this situation, staff are working to ensure the safety of guests and the bear.
