Actor Drew Barrymore is resuming her talk show “The Drew Barrymore Show” and plans to begin filming its new season on Monday, despite her show’s writers being on strike.
In an Instagram post Sunday, Barrymore said she made the decision to resume the show “in compliance with not discussing or promoting film and television that is struck of any kind.” This is in reference to a different but related strike by Hollywood actors with SAG-AFTRA.
Barrymore said she wanted to be there to provide what writers do so well, which is a way to bring people together or help make sense of the human experience. She also said that she walked away from hosting the MTV Movie & TV Awards just days into the strike.
Under the strike’s rules, in most cases, actors who are members of the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists are not allowed to work on projects that are affected by the strike.
