Attending Physician of Congress, Dr. Brian Monahan, has declared Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell medically clear to continue with his duties. This comes after McConnell experienced a second freezing episode while answering questions from reporters in Kentucky.

McConnell, 81, suffered a concussion in March after falling in his home. Monahan said in a statement that he had “consulted” with McConnell and “conferred” with the Kentucky Republican’s neurology team and determined that he is “medically cleared to continue with his schedule as planned.”

“After evaluating yesterday’s incident, I have informed Leader McConnell that he is medically clear to continue with his schedule as planned,” Monahan said in a letter distributed by McConnell’s office. He added that “occasional lightheadedness is not uncommon in concussion recovery and can also be expected as a result of dehydration.”

McConnell has been a key figure in the Republican Party for decades and is currently the Senate Minority Leader. He is expected to continue his duties as normal, with Monahan’s assurance that he is medically cleared.
