ATLANTA — Of the 18 co-defendants in the Georgia election interference case involving former President Donald Trump, only one has been jailed as a result of the charges.

Harrison Floyd, the former director of the group Black Voices for Trump, was informed during his initial court appearance on Friday that he’d be spending more time at the Fulton County Jail since he was considered a potential flight risk. Floyd, also known as Willie Lewis Floyd III, was booked Thursday on charges of conspiracy to solicit false statements and writing, influencing witnesses and violating the state’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.

Floyd had turned himself in at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta under suspicion of conspiring to overturn the 2020 presidential election, along with 18 other co-defendants including the former president. He was also recently charged with assaulting an FBI agent.

“There’s no way that I’m a flight risk, ma’am,” Floyd told Judge Emily Richardson after she denied his bond request. He bristled at the suggestion that he might not return for future proceedings in the case.

The other co-defendants in the case have not been jailed, though they are still facing charges related to the election interference case. It is unclear what the outcome of the case will be, but Floyd’s jailing is the first step in the legal proceedings.
