President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden to Visit Maui to Survey Devastating Wildfire Recovery Efforts

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will travel to Maui on Monday to survey the recovery efforts of the devastating wildfires that have ravaged the island. The White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, released a statement on Wednesday saying that the president is committed to delivering “everything that the people of Hawaii need from the federal government as they recover from this disaster.”

At least 106 people have been confirmed dead in the blaze that destroyed most of the island. The President and First Lady will be welcomed by state and local leaders to see firsthand the impacts of the wildfires and the devastating loss of life and land that has occurred on the island.

On Monday, President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will meet with first responders, survivors, and federal, state and local officials to discuss the next steps in the recovery effort. The president will also be briefed on the progress of the recovery efforts and the assistance that has been provided to the affected communities.

The White House has also announced that the president will be visiting other areas of the island to meet with local leaders and discuss the long-term recovery plan. The president is expected to address the need for additional resources and support for the affected communities.
