FBI and Philadelphia Law Enforcement Officials Arrest 17-Year-Old in Connection with Terrorism Investigation

On Monday afternoon, the FBI and Philadelphia law enforcement officials announced the arrest of a 17-year-old in connection with a terrorism investigation. The juvenile, who is a supporter of Islamic extremists, allegedly radicalized online, is facing charges of weapons of mass destruction, criminal conspiracy, arson, causing/risking catastrophe, attempt to commit criminal mischief, possession of an instrument of crime and recklessly endangering another person.

The investigation began when the FBI received a tip from a concerned citizen about the teen’s activities. After an extensive investigation, the FBI and Philadelphia law enforcement officials were able to arrest the teen and charge him with the aforementioned crimes.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner released a statement regarding the arrest, saying, “The work of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force potentially thwarted a catastrophic terrorist attack in the name of a perverted ideology that in no way, shape, or form represents the beliefs of the overwhelming majority of peace-seeking people of faith, including Muslims.”
