In a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, a group of House Democrats led by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) expressed their concern over Justice Thomas’s “consistent failure to disclose gifts and benefits from industry magnates and wealthy, politically active executives.”

The letter lists many of the trips and treats Thomas has been gifted by the likes of billionaire Harland Crow, including “at least 38 destination vacations, 26 private jet trips, and a host of other gifts and benefits.”

The letter also cites criticism from other members of Congress, including Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), who wrote on Twitter that Thomas and Justice Samuel Alito have “made it clear that they’re oblivious to the embarrassment they’ve visited on the highest court in the land.” Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. (D-N.J.) wrote on Twitter that Thomas “takes cash bribes while crushing your freedoms” and “should resign today.”

The letter calls for an investigation into Thomas’s actions and suggests that if the court won’t reform itself, Congress should step in and do it for them. The letter is signed by Reps. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), Ted Lieu (D-CA), Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and Hank Johnson (D-GA).
