Ukraine’s intelligence agency, the Secret Service of Ukraine (SSU), has arrested a woman in connection with an alleged assassination plot against President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The report from Kyiv’s intelligence community came as Russian forces struck the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson in the south, and border areas in the northeast.

On Saturday night, a Russian “guided air bomb” hit a blood transfusion center in northeast Ukraine, killing two people and injuring four, according to Ukrainian officials. Regional Gov. Oleh Syniehubov said initial reports suggested two men had died and another four were injured in the “large scale fire.”

The SSU statement said the woman had attempted to establish the president’s tentative itinerary in the region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack in a Telegram post, alongside a picture of a building engulfed in flames.

Russia has launched more than 70 missiles and drones at Ukraine in recent weeks, according to the Ukrainian military. The Ukrainian government has accused Russia of aggression and of violating international law. The United Nations Security Council has called for an immediate de-escalation of the situation.
