A tragic accident has taken the life of a 5-year-old girl in southern Illinois. Harper Finn, of Altamont, was attending a harness race at a county fair when a starting gate being hauled by a car failed to close and extended into the grandstand, striking her. She was rushed to a local hospital and later airlifted to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, where she passed away Wednesday evening.
