A 29-year-old man from Klamath Falls, Oregon, has been arrested and charged with federal crimes after kidnapping a woman in Seattle, Washington, and holding her captive in a makeshift cinderblock jail cell in his garage.
According to the FBI’s Portland Field Office, Negasi Zuberi, who goes by the aliases “Sakima,” “Justin Hyche” and “Justin Kouassi,” traveled from his home in Oregon to Seattle on July 15, where he solicited a prostitute and kidnapped her. He then drove her hundreds of miles to his home in Oregon and locked her in a makeshift cinderblock jail cell.
The woman was able to break open the door of the cell and escape, and was able to flag down help. Zuberi was arrested the following day.
Stephanie Shark, the assistant special agent in charge of the FBI’s Portland field office, said in a news release, “This woman was kidnapped, chained, sexually assaulted, and locked in a cinderblock cell.”
In addition to the federal charges, authorities are looking for additional victims after linking Zuberi to sexual assaults in at least four other states.
