The incident occurred on July 12 when Secret Service officers attempted to pull over a driver for having an expired registration at an intersection near the Ellipse and the Washington Monument, located just a block south of the White House. The driver of the Honda Accord fled and ran a red light, striking and killing a 75-year-old Philadelphia man who was in a crosswalk.
Following the incident, the Secret Service launched an investigation and Robertson was arrested on Thursday on a charge of second-degree murder.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, was a resident of Philadelphia. His family has been notified of his death and the investigation is ongoing.
