Gigi Hadid Arrested in Cayman Islands for Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia

On July 10, 2021, model Gigi Hadid was arrested in the Cayman Islands for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. According to a statement from the Cayman Islands Customs & Border Control, Hadid and one other person were arrested after a search of their luggage revealed a small amount of marijuana and utensils used for consumption. Hadid appeared in court two days later and was charged with the importation of a controlled drug and the importation of a drug utensil.

Shortly after news of the arrest broke, Hadid posted an Instagram slideshow of her and her friends enjoying their Caribbean vacation. The slideshow included bikini pics and snaps of delicious-looking food, and Hadid captioned it with five words that implied the arrest was anything but a buzzkill: “All’s well that ends well🌅.”

Hadid’s arrest is the latest in a string of high-profile arrests in the Cayman Islands. In recent years, celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan have all been arrested in the Caribbean nation for various offenses.

The Cayman Islands is known for its strict laws regarding drug possession and usage. Possession of any amount of marijuana is considered a criminal offense and can result in a fine and/or jail time. It is unclear at this time what the outcome of Hadid’s case will be.
