Woman Arrested in Connection with Overdose Death of Robert De Niro’s Grandson

On Thursday night, a 20-year-old woman was arrested in New York City in connection with the overdose death of actor Robert De Niro’s grandson, Leandro Anthony De Niro-Rodriguez. Sofia Haley Marks is expected to face federal drug charges in a Manhattan federal court on Friday.

Leandro De Niro-Rodriguez, 19, was found unconscious on July 2 at 55 Wall St. in New York City. According to his mother, actor Drena De Niro, he died after taking “fentanyl laced pills.”

Marks was arrested at around 6 p.m. on Thursday. It is unclear what evidence led to her arrest, but law enforcement sources said that she is expected to be charged with drug distribution.
