Gal Luft Indicted on Charges of Unregistered Advocacy of Chinese Causes and Attempts to Sell Weapons on Behalf of a Chinese Company

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan have unsealed an indictment against Gal Luft, co-director of the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security, for a host of charges related to unregistered advocacy of Chinese causes and attempts to sell weapons on behalf of a Chinese company to foreign countries.

The indictment, filed in November 2022, charges Luft with violating Iranian sanctions and making false statements to federal agents. Luft, a dual Israeli and American citizen, is currently a fugitive, according to prosecutors.

The charges come amid an ongoing investigation by the House GOP into President Biden, which recently saw a major setback when U.S. Attorney David Weiss denied any interference in his investigation. Last month, Rep. James Comer (R-KY) said he had “lost” his top Biden whistleblower, though it was never clear what this meant.

Luft has made headlines in recent months for alleging unsubstantiated public claims. He is the co-director of the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security, a Maryland-based think tank.
