Actor Allison Mack, best known for her role as a young Superman’s close friend on the television show “Smallville,” has been released from a federal prison in California. This comes after Mack pleaded guilty in 2019 to various crimes, including extortion and forced labor, when she was a high-ranking member of NXIVM, the upstate New York group led by Keith Raniere.

Mack was sentenced in June 2021 to three years in prison for her role in NXIVM, a purported self-help group that prosecutors said doubled as a secret sex cult. She avoided a longer prison term by cooperating with federal authorities.

According to inmate records on the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ website, Mack was released from the federal prison in Dublin, California, near San Francisco on Monday.

The NXIVM case has been ongoing since 2018, when Raniere was arrested and charged with sex trafficking and other crimes. He was convicted in 2019 and sentenced to 120 years in prison. Mack was one of several co-defendants who pleaded guilty in the case.

Mack’s release comes after she served nearly two years in prison. It is unclear if she will face any additional restrictions or probation. The case has been closely watched by fans of “Smallville” and those interested in the NXIVM case.
