NFL Announces Punishments for Four Players Violating Gambling Policy

The National Football League (NFL) announced Thursday that four players have been punished for violating the league’s gambling policy. Three of the players have been suspended indefinitely, while the fourth has been suspended for six games.

Nicholas Petit-Frere of the Tennessee Titans has been suspended for the team’s first six regular season games for betting on non-NFL sports at the club facility. Isaiah Rodgers and Rashod Berry, of the Indianapolis Colts, and free agent Demetrius Taylor have been suspended indefinitely for betting on NFL games during the 2022 season.

The NFL prohibits all players from engaging in any form of gambling in any club or league. The three players who have been suspended indefinitely may petition for reinstatement after the 2023 season. Rodgers, Berry and Taylor cannot seek reinstatement until after the 2023 season.

The NFL said that Taylor may still continue to participate in offseason and preseason activities, including preseason games. Rodgers and Berry were both waived by the Colts following their suspensions.

The NFL’s gambling policy is in place to protect the integrity of the game and ensure that players are not engaging in activities that could potentially harm the league. The league will continue to monitor the situation and take appropriate action if any further violations occur.
