On Monday night, authorities were dispatched to a report of a disturbance at a residence. When officers arrived, they found one person dead near the front door and then heard a gunshot from further inside. Upon further investigation, they discovered two more bodies.
The deceased were identified as Jack Janway, 69; his wife Terry Janway, 68; and their grandson Dalton Janway, 11. According to a Muskogee Police Department statement, the dead were in-laws of NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson.
Police said they believe Johnson’s mother-in-law, Terry Janway, killed her husband and her grandson before killing herself. The incident began when a woman called 911 to report a disturbance with a gun before hanging up.
The Muskogee Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident and is asking anyone with information to contact them. No further details have been released at this time.
