Fox News Channel announced on Monday that Jesse Watters, one of the network’s biggest stars, will be taking over the 8 p.m. programming time slot vacated by Tucker Carlson. Laura Ingraham’s show will move from 10 p.m. to 7 p.m., while Sean Hannity will remain in the 9 p.m. slot and Greg Gutfeld’s late-night broadcast will move to 10 p.m.
Watters’ show debuted last year, airing at 7 p.m. and has since gained 2.6 million viewers. Watters rose from production assistant to one of the conservative cable network’s biggest stars.
“Fox News Channel has been America’s destination for news and analysis for more than 21 years and we are thrilled to debut a new lineup,” said Suzanne Scott, the network’s CEO.
The changes come after Carlson’s exit from the network in late April, which led to a ratings drop in the crucial 8 p.m. hour. Fox News is hoping that Watters will help to bring back viewers and restore the network’s ratings.
Watters’ show will be called “Jesse Watters Primetime” and will air at 8 p.m. ET. It is set to debut in the coming weeks.
