Manalapan Man Arrested and Arraigned for Allegedly Throwing Phone at Singer Bebe Rexha During Concert

A 27-year-old man from Manalapan, New Jersey, was arrested and arraigned on Monday for allegedly throwing a cellphone at singer Bebe Rexha during a concert in New York City on Sunday.

According to a criminal complaint, Nicolas Malvagna told security at the Pier 17 venue that he threw the phone at Rexha because he thought it “would be funny.” Video shared on social media by a concertgoer shows the phone striking Rexha near her eye.

The impact of the phone caused Rexha to collapse to her knees and she later received stitches. She then covered her face and collapsed to the ground as crew members rushed on stage.

Malvagna was charged with misdemeanor charges of harassment and assault. He is due back in court on August 14th.

Rexha took to Twitter after the incident to thank her fans for their support and to assure them that she was okay. She also encouraged her fans to “spread love, not hate.”
