The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a missing Canadian research submersible that disappeared on Sunday after it went to explore the wreck of the Titanic. The 21-foot submersible and its five-person crew, from the Canadian research vessel Polar Prince, started a dive on Sunday morning.

Rear Admiral John Mauger, the commander of the Coast Guard district leading the search, said they received a call for help from OceanGate on Sunday afternoon, after the crew lost contact with the submersible nearly two hours later.

The Coast Guard is expected to release more information during a Monday afternoon briefing. A massive search has since unfurled as authorities probe the North Atlantic for the missing submersible.

The submersible was part of an OceanGate Expeditions tour exploring the Titanic wreckage, located 900 nautical miles east of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Hamish Harding, a British billionaire, is reportedly onboard the submersible along with four additional, as-of-yet unidentified, people.

The Coast Guard has deployed multiple vessels and aircraft to search for the missing submersible. The search is ongoing and the Coast Guard is asking anyone with information to contact them.
