The show, which first aired in 2006, has been a major success, earning Lakshmi four Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program. Lakshmi also won three Critics’ Choice Awards for her work on the show.
“I am extremely proud to have been part of building such a successful show and of the impact it has had in the worlds of television and food,” Lakshmi said.
Lakshmi’s departure from “Top Chef” comes as she is focusing on other projects, including her Hulu show “Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi”, which just released its second season.
The show has not yet announced who will take over as host for the upcoming 21st season.
