Two boys from New York, Alfa Barrie, 11, and Garrett Warren, 13, were reported missing last week and were found lifeless in different rivers around Manhattan. The NYPD Harbor Unit found the boys’ bodies several days apart in separate waterways on opposite sides of Manhattan.
Alfa was reported missing in the early morning of May 14, while Garrett’s disappearance was reported on the afternoon of May 15. The boys were last spotted together in Harlem on May 12 before they were reported missing, according to the New York Police Department. Police connected the two cases after Warren was reported missing.
Ibrahim Diallo, Barrie’s old brother, wants New Yorkers who helped search for the boys to apply “the same energy” to finding out how they died. “We will need help before we get to the bottom of this,” Diallo said.
Garrett’s body was retrieved on Thursday near the Madison Avenue Bridge in the Harlem River, close to where the boys were last seen on surveillance cameras. Warren, 13, fantasized about becoming a football champion or business titan. Authorities are now investigating their mysterious deaths, and their loved ones are desperate for answers.
The NYPD is asking anyone with information about the boys’ deaths to contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
