According to court documents, Kohberger allegedly broke into an off-campus house and fatally stabbed Ethan Chapin, 20, from Conway, Washington; Madison Mogen, 21, from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Xana Kernodle, 20, from Avondale, Arizona; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21, from Rathdrum, Idaho.

Kohberger, a doctoral student of criminology at nearby Washington State University, was arrested on December 30th at his family’s Pennsylvania home. He has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary.

The families of the victims have been left devastated by the tragedy. Kristi Goncalves, the mother of Kaylee Goncalves, told “48 Hours” last week, “He knows, you know, what he did to our daughter.”
