Key takeaways:

  • Linda Yaccarino is reportedly in talks to become the new CEO of Twitter.
  • Yaccarino has a strong relationship with advertisers and marketing groups, which could help quell the ongoing concerns companies have with Twitter.
  • If Yaccarino is appointed as CEO of Twitter, she will be the first female CEO of the company and the first executive from outside of the tech industry to lead the company.

Linda Yaccarino, the current Chairman of Global Advertising and Partnerships at NBCUniversal, is reportedly in talks to become the new CEO of Twitter, according to multiple reports. Yaccarino has been with NBCUniversal for several years, overseeing a staff of thousands and about $13 billion in annual ad revenue.

In a statement, Yaccarino said, “It has been an absolute honor to be part of Comcast NBCUniversal and lead the most incredible team. We’ve transformed our company and the entire industry — and I am so proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and grateful to my colleagues and mentors, especially Brian Roberts, Mike Cavanagh and the entire NBCU leadership team.”

Yaccarino is said to have a strong relationship with advertisers and marketing groups, which could help quell the ongoing concerns companies have with Twitter following CEO Elon Musk’s takeover. Musk said in March that Twitter had seen a 50 percent drop in ad revenue after his takeover.

If Yaccarino is appointed as CEO of Twitter, she will be the first female CEO of the company. She will also be the first executive from outside of the tech industry to lead the company. It is unclear when a decision will be made, but it is expected to be announced soon.
