Davis, California – On Thursday, Davis Police Chief Darren Pytel announced the arrest of Carlos Dominguez, a 21-year-old former student at the University of California, Davis, in connection with three recent stabbings, two of which were fatal.

Pytel said that Dominguez was taken into custody Wednesday after 15 people called in reports of a person matching the suspect’s description in Sycamore Park, where one of the stabbings occurred. After being taken into custody, detectives interviewed the suspect for “many hours,” Pytel said.

Pytel also said that Dominguez had a large knife in his backpack when he was taken into custody. He was formally arrested Thursday and is being held in Yolo County Jail on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Pytel said that police believe Dominguez is responsible for all three stabbings, but would not confirm if Dominguez had admitted to any of them.

The Davis Police Department is continuing to investigate the stabbings and is asking anyone with information to contact them.
