Six people, including five teenagers, were found dead in rural Oklahoma on Monday in what authorities believe to be a murder-suicide. The victims were shot in the head with a 9 mm pistol, and the scene was “staged” before the shooter, Jesse McFadden, took his own life.

McFadden, a 39-year-old convicted sex offender, was on trial for child pornography charges when the incident occurred. The victims included his wife, Janette Mayo, and her three children, Holly, 17, Shelby, 16, and Dalton, 14. Two of their friends, Taylor Paschal-Placker, 13, and Skyla Whitaker, 11, were also killed.

The bodies were found near a creek and in a heavily wooded area in rural Oklahoma. It is believed that the victims had been moved there from where they were originally killed.

Okmulgee Police Chief Joe Prentice said that the incident has raised concerns about why McFadden was free as his trial on new sex charges loomed. McFadden had previously served time in prison for a sex offense, and was released early.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are still trying to piece together the events that led to the tragedy. The Okmulgee Police Department and a violent crime task force are overseeing the investigation.
