Former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III has agreed to plead guilty in a 2021 high-speed crash that killed a woman, his attorneys said Tuesday.

Ruggs waived a long-delayed preliminary hearing with the agreement to admit that he drove under the influence of alcohol causing death, a felony, his lawyers said. He is expected to plead guilty to a felony count of DUI resulting in death and misdemeanor manslaughter, which will carry a sentence of three to 10 years in prison.

The crash occurred in April 2021, when Ruggs was accused of driving a Corvette at 156 mph, with twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system. The crash killed Tina Tintor, a 43-year-old mother of four.

Ruggs’ attorneys, David Z. Chesnoff and Richard A. Schonfeld, said in a statement that the plea deal is the “first step toward a fair resolution to this matter and we look forward to closure for all the parties involved.”

The 24-year-old first-round NFL draft pick is expected to face a sentence of three to 10 years in prison. The plea deal is still pending approval from a judge. It is unclear when Ruggs will appear in court to enter his plea.
