Fourteen people were injured in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday evening when a roof collapsed at an off-campus house near Ohio State University.

Columbus Division of Fire Battalion Chief Steve Martin said his department received a report of the roof collapse at 7:40 p.m. and arrived to find the roof above a front porch had collapsed while the rest of the home remained intact.

Martin said that a few people were trapped under the structure and that other students were able to lift them off. He added that none of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening.

The incident occurred at a home just a few blocks off the OSU campus. It is unclear what caused the roof to collapse, but Martin said that it was likely due to too many people being on the roof, which was not designed to hold significant weight.

The Columbus Division of Fire is continuing to investigate the incident and is urging people to be mindful of the weight limits of any structure they are on.
