Three Colorado teens have been charged with first-degree murder with extreme indifference in the death of 20-year-old Alexa Bartell. According to CBS Colorado, the teens allegedly threw rocks and other objects at cars, and one of the rocks went through Bartell’s windshield, killing her.
The incident occurred on April 19th on Indiana Street in Jefferson County, between Denver and Boulder. Bartell was on the phone with a friend at the time of the incident, and the friend heard her suddenly stop speaking.
According to arrest warrant affidavits, the teens allegedly took a photo of the deadly mayhem and then pledged a “blood brothers” oath to keep quiet about the crime. The teens have been identified as 18-year-olds Nicholas “Mitch” Karol-Chik, Joseph Koenig, and Zachary Kwak. Karol-Chik told investigators that Koenig was driving while Kwak was the one throwing the rocks.
