A fake doctor has been accused of practicing medicine without a license on thousands of patients for several years, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.
Stephan Gevorkian, 44, of Studio City, faces five felony counts of practicing medicine without certification, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement.
Gevorkian is accused of conducting blood tests on patients, advising them on treatments, and offering treatment for serious conditions including cancer and viral infections.
“Practicing medicine without a license is not only a criminal activity in California, it can cause irreparable harm to the health of unsuspecting people, some with serious illnesses, who believe they are under the care of a licensed physician,” Gascón said.
Gevorkian is accused of treating thousands of individuals for several years without a license. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is urging anyone who may have received medical advice or treatment from Gevorkian to contact the office’s Bureau of Investigation at (213) 974-3512.
