On Friday night, eight people were shot in two separate locations in Washington D.C., including a 12-year-old girl. According to Metropolitan Police Department Assistant Chief Andre Wright, the shootings occurred around 10 p.m. in the southeast part of the city.

At the first scene, located in the 500 block of Lebaum Street, seven men were shot. Witnesses reported that a shooter or shooters in a black sedan drove through the block and indiscriminately fired upon individuals.

At the second scene, located in the 2900 block of Second Street, the 12-year-old girl was found shot. None of the injuries were life-threatening, and most of the victims were able to transport themselves to local hospitals.

Assistant Chief Wright said that all those injured in the gunfire are expected to survive. Police are currently investigating the incident and have not yet identified any suspects.

The Metropolitan Police Department is urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact them. They are also asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward.
