Actor Alec Baldwin’s attorneys have announced that charges against him in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of his Western movie “Rust” have been dropped.

In a joint statement to CBS News, Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro said, “We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin and we encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident.”

The incident occurred in 2021 when Baldwin was rehearsing a scene with a gun, which went off and killed Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza. The news was first reported by entertainment news outlet Deadline.com.
