At least five people were injured, one fatally, after a car crashed into pedestrians near Westlake High School in Thousand Oaks, California on Tuesday.
According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, the driver of the vehicle was wanted for allegedly stabbing a person earlier in the day. The students were leaving Westlake High School when they were struck by the vehicle, which flipped over, trapping the driver inside.
The 15-year-old boy who was killed was one of three other teenagers injured in the single-vehicle rollover crash. Two female students, ages 14 and 16, and another 15-year-old male student were also injured. One of the injured is in critical condition and one in moderate condition.
Ventura County Sheriff’s Capt. William Hutton said the crash was deemed an intentional act. The driver of the vehicle has not yet been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
The Thousand Oaks community is mourning the loss of the 15-year-old student and sending their thoughts and prayers to the injured victims and their families.
