Miraculous Journey of Survival Completed by 1-Year-Old Australian Shepherd Nanuq

An incredible journey of survival has been completed by a 1-year-old Australian shepherd named Nanuq. After being separated from his family in Gambell, Alaska, Nanuq embarked on a 150-mile trek across the frozen Bering Sea ice. During his journey, Nanuq was reportedly bitten by a seal or polar bear, but he was eventually returned to his home safe and sound.

Nanuq’s disappearance was first noticed about a month ago when people in Wales, 150 miles northeast of Savoonga, began posting pictures online of what they described as a lost dog. After seeing the posts, Nanuq’s owner, Mandy Iworrigan, realized that it was her beloved pet.

Iworrigan and her family had been visiting Savoonga, another St. Lawrence Island community in the Bering Strait, when Nanuq and their other family dog, Starlight, went missing. After a month of searching, Iworrigan was overjoyed to learn that Nanuq had been found safe and sound.

The incredible journey of Nanuq is a testament to the resilience and determination of animals. Despite being separated from his family and facing the dangers of the frozen Bering Sea, Nanuq was able to make it back home. Iworrigan and her family are undoubtedly relieved to have their beloved pet back safe and sound.
