Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods announced Friday that two juveniles have been arrested and a third is being sought in connection with the recent shooting deaths of three area teenagers in the Central Florida community.
At a press conference, Woods said all of the suspects were juveniles, but he did not provide exact ages. He said the suspects and the victims were associated with a gang “in some shape or form.”
Woods said investigators believe the victims were involved with burglaries and robberies, and both the victims and the suspects were allegedly affiliated with criminal gangs.
“Not only are the victims juveniles, but the murderers are juveniles as well,” Woods said. “And at some point, these three individuals turned on our three victims and murdered them.”
Woods said the suspects left behind a trail of evidence. “Basically, in simple terms there is no honor among thieves,” he said.
The investigation is ongoing and Woods said more information will be released as it becomes available.
