Tragedy Strikes on Birthday as Abducted Woman is Killed in Shootout with Suspect in Northern Virginia

On Wednesday night, tragedy struck when a woman abducted from New York on her birthday was shot and killed in Northern Virginia following a shootout between her alleged kidnapper and police.

At 9:40 p.m., a Virginia State Police trooper spotted a Jeep Cherokee headed south on I-95 in Fairfax County with the wrong license plates. When troopers approached the Jeep, the driver began shooting at them and Virginia State Police returned fire.

The victim, Tatiana N. David, 34, of Ithaca, New York, had been reported abducted shortly before 7:30 a.m. that day. A witness reported that she was forced into a white SUV by Michael C. Davis, 34, of Virginia.

The Jeep sped away from the troopers, drove off the side of the road and crashed into the woods. Sadly, Tatiana David died at the scene while the driver was taken to the hospital.

New York State Police said that the Jeep was associated with the abduction of 34-year-old Tatiana David and the suspect and victim have a 4-year-old together.
