St. Petersburg, Florida – In a tragic turn of events, the body of 2-year-old Taylen Mosley was found in the mouth of an alligator in a recreation area on Friday. The boy had been missing since Thursday, when his mother, 20-year-old Pashun Jeffery, was found killed in her apartment.

St. Petersburg Police Chief Anthony Holloway said in a Friday evening news conference that detectives had been searching the area around Dell Holmes Park Friday afternoon when they “spotted an alligator with an object in its mouth.” The alligator was shot and killed, and the body of Taylen Mosley was retrieved intact.

“We didn’t want to find him this way, but at least we can bring some closure to that family now,” Holloway said.

The boy’s father, 21-year-old Thomas Mosley, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 20-year-old Pashun Jeffery and their son.

The St. Petersburg Police Department is continuing to investigate the case and has asked anyone with information to contact them.
