A Wisconsin man has been arrested in connection with a firebombing attack on an anti-abortion organization’s office in the state’s capital.
Hridindu Sankar Roychowdhury, 29, of Madison, was arrested at Boston Logan International Airport on one count of attempting to cause damage by means of fire or an explosive, according to the US Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Wisconsin.
The attack took place on May 8, just days after Politico reported that the Supreme Court had the votes to overturn Roe v. Wade. During the attack, someone had written “If abortions aren’t safe then you aren’t either” on the wall of the building in graffiti.
The FBI used DNA evidence pulled from a partly eaten burrito to connect Roychowdhury to the Mason jar used in the attack. Wisconsin Family Action is a political organization that lobbies against abortion.
Roychowdhury is currently being held in Boston and is awaiting extradition to Wisconsin. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
