Early Sunday morning, emergency personnel responded to a car accident on I-24 West near exit 24 that resulted in a car being flipped upside down and caused “very extensive damage,” according to a statement from Robertson County Emergency Medical Services. The accident involved two vehicles and resulted in six fatalities, including five children, and one woman who was found in critical condition.

The four Advanced Life Support ambulances and one helicopter/air ambulance responded to the scene. The victims were found outside of the flipped vehicle after apparently being ejected in the accident. The driver of one of the vehicles involved in the accident was not injured.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. The names of the victims have not been released.

This is the second fatal car accident in Robertson County in the last month. In late May, a crash involving a tractor-trailer and a car on I-24 West near exit 24 resulted in the death of one person.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is urging drivers to be extra cautious on the roads and to always wear a seatbelt. They also remind drivers to never drive while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
