Music superstar Beyoncé and French luxury brand Balmain have teamed up to create a new couture collection, “Renaissance Couture,” inspired by the singer’s 2022 album of the same name.
Vogue France shared images of two additional gowns, including one worn by the singer on the magazine’s April 2023 cover. The collection features 16 outfits that are inspired by tracks from the album, such as “Break My Soul,” “Cozy” and “Summer Renaissance.” It includes dramatic sculptural moments, such as hammered metal breastplates, 3D-printed bustiers and more.
Beyoncé took to Instagram to thank Balmain’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing, for bringing her album to life in couture. She wrote, “Designing alongside you was freeing — thank you for allowing me to celebrate the human form, to take artistic risks, to push boundaries and to freely express myself.”
Rousteing also released a lookbook Friday of showstopping designs made in collaboration with Beyoncé. He said, “It was a pleasure to work with Beyoncé on this project. She is an incredible artist and a great friend. We have created something truly special that I am so proud of.”
The Beyhive may still be waiting for “Renaissance” visuals, but the surprise couture collection directly inspired by the album’s songs, courtesy of Balmain, is sure to please. The collection is being dubbed, “The first wearable album!”
