On Thursday, an Arizona man at the center of a right-wing conspiracy theory about the January 6th Capitol attack demanded a public retraction from Fox News host Tucker Carlson. Ray Epps’ attorney, Michael Teter, sent a letter to Carlson and Fox News general counsel Bernard Gugar, claiming that Carlson has been pushing “fanciful notions” regarding Epps’ involvement in the Capitol attack that have “demonstrably (and already proven to be) false.”

Teter demanded a formal retraction and on-air apology “for the lies” that have been spread about Epps on the channel. He also requested that Carlson “cease and desist from making any further false and defamatory statements about Mr. Epps.”

The conspiracy theory at the center of the dispute alleges that Epps was secretly working with the federal government during the Capitol attack. However, this has been proven to be false. Epps has denied any involvement in the attack and has stated that he was not in Washington, D.C. at the time of the attack.

The letter from Teter is the latest development in the ongoing dispute between Epps and Carlson. Epps has previously called on Carlson to retract his statements and has threatened to take legal action if Carlson does not comply.

The controversy surrounding Epps and Carlson has raised questions about the accuracy of the information presented on Fox News. It has also highlighted the need for media outlets to be more responsible in their reporting and to ensure that they are not spreading false information.
